This is just fantastic. I love the idea. The only thing I would critisize is that the ground of the sphere blends into the background. It's not bad, but I'd like to see how it would look with slightly different shades. But nice work!

This really reminds me of the work of a surrealist photographer named Jerry Uelsmann. Here's a [link] to a site on his stuff. There's a gallery section that has some of his pieces in it.

I kind of got a little bit obsessed with him for a while in college because his technical skills just.... stunned me. All of his images were done in a darkroom, with enlargers. A few techniques, he made on his own. Like the brushed steel sphere he liked to put in some of his pieces, were just a dodging/burning technique he perfected to make it look like that.

I really like this piece though. You did a really good, clean job.
